Dam if they had made them slightly springy so you could hammer them in and have a smooth bevel on either side they would be kick arse for pulling wire with out catching.

Not all holes are centered?
Get the CMP to make it mandatory and $$$$$$$$$$$$$

 

This looks like a messy solution to a simple problem unless you had a boatload of holes to cut.

Tubes! Do they make knows to secure cables in attic so we don't have to staple?

I am not sure whether these would protect better or worse than nail plates. With these, like conduit, you could screw through it, but you'd have to hit it dead square or the screw would just get deflected.

 

Until they are code I won’t use them. 3” drywall screws hang things and put good $$$ in my pocket
