Hi Guys

Looking at a new panel and breakers to replace and old rotary fuse unit. New to Canada, so getting to grips with the slightly unusual rules & regs!

So, was looking at Square D HOM (Homelink). But lots of confusion on Amazon.ca as to whether these are CSA approved. Looking on Schneider's own retail info it appears that HOM are NOT CSA approved, but QO are. Does this seem correct? I noted also that Home Depot (.ca) sell the full line of HOM, which seems odd if NONE of it is CSA approved??

Typical as QO and a lot more costly than HOM!

So looking at other brands for a more cost-effective solution.

Found a website Canadian Breakers (ca)

Noted that they are actually USA based and ship from the USA. The brands they carry are:

Cutler-Hammer (hard to find panels!!!)
Siemens
Square D
GE

Are any of those brands usually fully CSA? Or are they just shipping USA stuff regardless of CSA?

Thanks guys!

Very interesting!! I have not seen any for sale online with the HOM changed to CHOM. I'll look again though!!

When I brought up the Schnieder retail PDF they give an overview of QO and HOM products in full, all in one doc. They are very clear in that doc that the QO are CSA certified, but it does not say anything about CSA for the HOM at all.

Leads you to think that no HOM stuff can be CSA. ANd that's Schneiders own document!! I can't add links unfortunately as I'm new to the forum, which is annoying as I have it open in my desktop!!

Siemens stuff seems the more logical solution??? It looks like lots of their stuff is CSA, and also the breakers seem to be good value. On the Canadian Breakers (ca) website it even lists in the bullet points on the Siemens breakers that they are CSA approved breakers. Again, I can't post the link but look on theiur website at any Siemens breaker.

Yes, like it or not Amazon.ca sells hundreds of electrical panels. Take a look at the feedback on most on there. They sell a lot. Probably due to pricing.

Found the CHOM version of the HOM breakers also. They are available from Canadian Breakers, and Home Depot. But it seems the ones sold by Amazon.ca are the HOM versions and UL but not CSA listed.

I like the comments section on Amazon. Personally, I find them better than the info from the orange/blue aprons.

There are some really talented guys there
