I am replacing dishwashers in the kitchen of a elementary school. The equipment is connected through a hard wired connection. I am proving a disconnect switch Nema 3R since it'll be near water. Should provide any GFCI protection per code corresponding for this type of equipment? Please let me know where in the code I can find it, if someone can help me out with this one. Thanks.

You have a contract at a school and no plans or engineer? Direct to the contractor?

There is more than one kind of GFCI for protection. People protection is ~5ma, equipment protection is ~30 ma. Then there is the ground fault used for services

Designing circuits for kitchens for commercial or public use should be done by someone who knows the local codes and is prepared to be liable for the design.

Please specify the code so I can help you. I also work in appliance repair, but mostly my job is Refrigerator Repair. I've been trying to figure out the schematics of a dishwasher and realized that it is similar to a refrigerator in a few connecting sections. I fixed a dishwasher for my mother's asking a year ago. That's when I realized that to stay a pro at fixing something specific, it's important to work only with a selected appliance to improve skills. What do you think?
