I was just curious if it is permitted to paint (non-conductive) backplane in a 120VAC enclosure in an manufacturing environment?

Thanks

Ultimately it is up to the CSA inspector. When you manufacture your own panels, you require CSA certification.

The only issue I can think of, would be to have grounding points masked out. As long as whatever equipment you have in the panel is properly grounded, and any 'end user' required grounding points are accessible.
