Is that a g inside of a d (the stamping)? Or is it an a, now that I've had more coffee.

 

That panel can fit a 10 or 12 ckt breaker detail? It looks to skinny. You’ll end up with no gutter space

Homeline has retrofit kits too? Is that a Canadian only thing? Haven't seen that before. I though Eaton was the only game in town, maybe Siemens.

@Kevin_Essiambre, why the retrofit? Why not just replace it?

Retrofits make sense for old panels that are recessed in walls, but this one is surface mount and looks like it would be an easy swap.

 

Splitter on one side, and a wall that is beside a door on the other side. Only have 10" to work with. The right side of that fuse panel is pushed tight to the wall.

There's another one in one of the apartments that's recessed in the wall.

And another panel in the basement that will be changed altogether.

I figured this might be an apt building with a bunch of these side by side or some other space issue. I like the idea, but doesn’t leave much for future expansion when done unlike a cheap off the shelf 20 space panel.

 

Here are the options I have to work with. I think I may end up going back and taking better photos, as well as seeing if the other ones have any labels left. We didn't have access to the apartment when we went to look. This one is in the public space.

There must be a disco ahead of that. Just move the panel somewhere else and JB over with the circuits, there is only 10 or 12 circuits.

I have always wanted to try one of those inserts, but never found either the right insert or the reason to use it. If the place is wired is NMD, then I would just cut out the recessed panel and install a new one. If the panel was piped, then maybe I would try an insert.

I've personally done 10 or 15 of these things. They are amazing inserts.

There is nowhere else to install a new panel. The rest of the lobby is doors and this is for the upstairs apartment. Just to put in the 2 new kitchen receptacles we have to run 100' of teck cable.

This "electrical closet" has no space for a different panel.

Honestly a panel insert it the best option we have for this panel. We just can't figure out the make from this one.

I also didn't even know Eaton made these inserts. I've only ever know Schneider made them.

That's a tight fit, could you use something like a HOM612L100S and use twins / combine a few circuits?

Edit: Square D QO816L100SCP would be better, 2 more circuits

The homeline HOM612L100S doesn't fit enough circuits to even do a replacement without adding our 2 new circuits.

Square D panel would work, but current tub is 20" tall, and this one is 12" so we would have to splice cables.

Boss would like to use the insert if we can.

The existing one being almost 20 inch tall might move you into the 8-18 model insert.
