There is not one specific "standard" for receptacle and switch heights. There are maximums and minimums that may apply depending on the type of occupancy.

As for the staples, it's printed on the package.

The print's should have a detail sheet with all that stuff on it.

 

The plugs will be at the height of the receptacles they're in.

 

I thought of saying that when I saw the title of the thread but you beat me to it.

 

Usually prints will spec the heights, often to the center of device from the finished floor. 12'' is common for receptacles and 48 or 52'' for switches. But ultimately it is up to the customer. There is no code rule for that.
Staples can hold only ONE cable. S1 usually up to 12/2 and S2 up to 12/3.

 

Not quite true, an S2 can take 2 12/2 or 14/2 cables laid flat on top of each other.

 

I put the receptacle height at the length of my eastwing. I think the S1 plastic 2 nail staples just one cable

 

Canada we get to call them plugs. I feel sorry for you guys.

I started in April '68. May I was putting the device boxes at !2 inches to bottom. Switches at 51 inches to bottom. Then I went on Service Truck as a helper.

When I came back Switches changed to 48 inches to bottom. That's where they are now in my company.

Of course I don't do those anymore. Did change out 6 ballasts in a parking garage yesterday. That's about my speed now, besides 99 is low balling everybody and getting all the good stuff.

Here is a good guideline. I use these heights at center of the box.

 

Switches I normally put at 48". Only reason is a 4x8 sheet of drywall is much easier to hang if they don't have to cut out at a random spot.

Outlets get put up at the height of my hammer.

Staples - as per manufacturer.

 

y0u can not mount switches @ 37 inches in Canada .
