I agree with nrp3, it's just a rapid driver.

I would get the one that takes multiple tips.

I would think it would be any flathead screwdriver that small enough for cover plates. The rapid driver would be my first choice and a regular straight shanked one as a back up. I worked with a guy who only referred to his as "my baby".

 

If it's not a WWF wrestling move, I suspect also that it's any small screwdriver suitable for cover plates. Some guys favor those wiggly spinny screwdrivers, but I never got the hang of those things.

 

You need to develop a little more hand-eye coordination there bro, I'm so used to them I can run in or out on a straight slotted screw easily.

 

Buy a Picquik. Made in Canada .

 

I use my impact to install devices and terminate and a 6in cabinet tip for plates.

A trim screw driver! Can't we just call it a trim screwdriver?? Jeez!!

 

Always called it a wiggly. I've only had the slotted tipped ones. Lose them often. Works great for plates and older device screws, ones that aren't stripped out anyway.

 

I like having both.

 

The wiggly driver is pound for pound one of the very best tools. I actually find it easier to drive slotted screws with a wiggly than with a cordless driver. It's light, no battery to worry about, and if you're one of these fanatics that gives a damn about vertical or slotted you can hit that perfect position much easier than you can with a cordless.

I can tell the carpenter put on my plates because none of them were vertical...

 

I can tell a painter put on my plates because they're the same color as the wall.

 

But we cut him some slack cause we used his laser and those plates are all nice and level with the tile.

 

Lasers are so cheap now homeowners buy them.

 

Only time i really use a laser is for pendant lights.

Though those lasers that go around the room are pretty sweet....especially when the floor slopes!

Curious, What else was on the list? I like to compare what some employers expect a new apprentice to supply.

I saw a list recently for a journeyman working for CLAC. He had to supply an SDS drill and bits, KO set up to 2”, hole saws, sawzall...... man it must have been at least $2000 in tools!

I've never used a twirly screwdriver in my life, and probably never will. I just don't see the point. My kraut magic Wera drivers work great on plate screws, and thankfully I am not plating very much anymore.

 

We could race once and you'd be a buying one on your way home that day.

 

It's one of those things, either you've tried it and liked it, I do, others not so much.

 

Its the 21st century, who still uses screws in wall plates! Lol

How long are those plate screws y'all are using? Except for the long ones that come with blanks, I'm gonna have it in quicker than I can reach for another tool.

Round shank screwdriver so I can spin with fingers and only use handle for support
